A European Point of View
September is trade fair month, a chance to discover new makers, refresh the shop and start shaping the collection for the season ahead. There is a particular pleasure in sourcing from across Europe, finding pieces with a sense of place, craft and character, and bringing them together in a way that feels distinctly Birch & Form.
As someone from Luxembourg, that European connection has a particular resonance for me. It feels natural to draw from a wider continental language and I was delighted to be invited to Maison Object in Paris as a guest of Bloomingville who are a key supplier from Denmark.
European design is at the heart of my curated collection. Scandinavian names such as Klippan, A World of Craft and Gry & Sif have long been favourites, and I’m delighted to now welcome our first French supplier into the fold.

Coming soon to the collection, Varek Illustrations brings together brothers Côme and Roméo, whose work is shaped by a lifelong connection to the sea. Rooted in the shores of the Île de Ré, their paintings capture the quiet beauty, rhythm and romance of life by the water. I’m especially looking forward to introducing their enamel trays, aprons and tea towels, pieces that will bring a little of that coastal spirit into the home.
Post-Brexit, sourcing from Europe is not always the simplest route, which makes each new addition feel all the more considered. These are pieces chosen not for convenience, but for the character, story and distinctive point of view they will bring to the collection.
London’s Top Drawer offered plenty of inspiration for the season ahead, with some exciting new British names set to join the collection. Sophie Home, with its thoughtful design and strong sense of responsibility, feels especially at home at Birch & Form, while Block Design and Osmology from Aery will bring a fresh mix of colour, form and fragrance to the shop.
I’m looking forward to welcoming a fresh mix of European finds and new additions to Birch & Form over the coming months, and to sharing them with you.
